In Cologne, Johann Maria Farina bottles a fresh citrus water. The world calls it Eau de Cologne.

Chemistry enters the atelier. Molecules made in the lab let perfumers create scents nature never had.

Aldehydes and Art Deco. For the first time, a perfume becomes an abstract idea.
